Ministry of Education's 101 Plan accomplishments in industrial intelligence released at XJTU
Xi'an Jiaotong University in Shaanxi province hosted the release of the Ministry of Education's 101 Plan accomplishments in industrial intelligence on July 18.
Led by Professor Zheng Nanning, the 101 Plan in artificial intelligence emphasizes fundamental, cutting-edge, cross-disciplinary, and practical approaches. A collaborative effort involving universities, research institutes, and enterprises resulted in a comprehensive curriculum system with core and reference courses. Notable experts reviewed the textbook scheme to ensure high quality.
The conference saw the release of the Strategic Research Report on Talent Cultivation in Higher Education Artificial Intelligence Programs and Core Curriculum System, which includes the "Strategic Research Report on Talent Cultivation in Higher Education Artificial Intelligence Programs", the "Core Curriculum System for Higher Education Artificial Intelligence Programs," and the "Talent Cultivation Plan for Higher Education Artificial Intelligence Programs".
President of Xi'an Jiaotong University Zhang Liqun highlighted AI's transformative role in scientific and industrial realms, stressing the need for interdisciplinary talent development and innovation ecosystem construction. Xi'an Jiaotong University, under Zheng's leadership, established a national laboratory and an industry-education platform, pioneering innovative educational models.
The 101 Plan aims to bridge educational gaps and cultivate top-tier AI talents. Xi'an Jiaotong University plans to innovate training methods, enhance teacher capabilities, and foster collaborative resource-sharing. The release of core course materials and research reports marks a significant milestone in the AI education landscape.
Zheng emphasized that these achievements signify a new beginning, proposing the establishment of a collaborative alliance for AI undergraduate course construction. This initiative, guided by the Ministry of Education, aims to drive continuous advancements in AI education.
The news conference unveiled core course materials such as "Introduction to AI" and "Computer Vision," alongside a comprehensive curriculum system for AI majors in higher education institutions. These initiatives underscore China's commitment to nurturing innovative AI talents and advancing educational excellence.
